Student research
We welcome applications from highly motivated graduate or undergraduate students interested in gaining training in molecular neuroscience research. Members of our laboratory gain personalized training in a variety of research methods and are centrally involved in experimental design, data collection, and result interpretation associated with ongoing research projects. Student mentees also gain training in data analysis and scientific communication through weekly laboratory meetings and individual meetings with the principal investigator. Opportunities are also regularly provided for students to present their research findings at regional or national conferences, as well as to earn authorship on published manuscripts.
Apply to join our research group
To apply to join our research group, please email Dr. Kraemer to inquire about available positions in the laboratory. If a position is available, an application may then be submitted by emailing Dr. Kraemer a curriculum vitae and a one-page cover letter describing your fit for the position and your interest in conducting research. Applicant pools for positions in the laboratory are typically competitive, and highest priority is given to applicants with a strong record of academic performance and a high degree of schedule flexibility. Learning the research methods associated with ongoing projects requires substantial time; thus, we prioritize applications from students who can commit to working on a project for multiple semesters. For undergraduate students, a one-year commitment is preferred, but applicants who commit to working on a project for one or two semesters may also be considered. Undergraduate students typically gain training during their first semester in the laboratory via a volunteer position, and in subsequent semesters students complete a research project associated with a course in independent research or a paid research assistantship.
